My Bodyweight Exercise Routine

by Manish
(Karnataka, India)

I started to workout when I was about sixteen years old. Before I begin my workout session I normally went for a small jog around the block. After that , I relax for about ten to fifteen minutes and then do about a 10-20 sit ups. And then I do one exercise picked up from a yoga routine called the surya namaskara. I don?t do the entire surya namskara, just the part where one lifts one?s hand above the head and slowly comes down to touch the ground while exhaling. On the way back I inhale slowly. I repeat this for about 10 times.

Now, I put on some music, preferably some rap music (helps me get in the mood) and start to do about 80 pushups at the rate of about one per second. I always wanted to develop my abs but after trying for like about two months and without seeing any results I kind of lost interest in that part of my workout. Maybe I was not doing it properly or something.

My favorite exercise routine is the one involving pushups and squats. What I mean is, I like to warm up first and then perform about 80 pushups and then rest for about 5 minutes and soon after that I would start doing about 25 to 30 squats. After this I lie on the ground for about 10 minutes. Now I again do some more pushups but this time not as many as before, maybe around 35-40 and come to rest. That is my exercise routine.

I try to do this at least twice a day but most of the time end up doing only once. My suggestion is, if you are interested in developing upper body muscles then pushups is the best exercise for you. You will feel really great when you look into the mirror after you do a decent amount of pushups. Happy working out!!

"About 2 weeks ago I read all the ab strengthening stuff on your site because I decided I wanted to be strong, instead of having a lot of belly fat. So I started eating healthier, running, exercising, you name it - everything your site said to do to help. Now I am noticing a real difference! Thank you for making this. :D xD"

[This calorie calculator is] the most useful tool on the web that I can find… Also, I compared the calories calculated by your calculator to the calories calculated by the treadmill at my gym, and they're within a couple calories of each other, so yours is as accurate as we're going to get. REALLY AWESOME TOOL. I love it and depend on it. Thank you sooooo much for making this available."
