Finding The Right Kettlebells DVD

A kettlebells DVD is a great tools to start leaning kettlebell lifts. Pictures in books or online can only show so much; with a DVD you can see exactly how the instructor is doing each movement.

You can also exercise along with many of them, incase you need that extra bump to get working out.

Here are my takes on 3 different intro DVDs marketed towards beginners. Of course, if you're getting them you should already have purchased a kettlebell, or have one on the way.

Check them out and see if they fit what you're looking for…

Enter the Kettlebell! Strength Secret of the Soviet Supermen
Starring Pavel Tsatsouline

Enter the Kettlebell is Pavel's flagship kettlebell DVD. It provides basic info about how to use kettlebells, as well as instructions for how to do basic and big kettlebell lifts such as the swing, press, and snatch.

Pavel runs the video and leads it in a very I'm-tough-and-I'm-going-to-make-you-tough manner. A lot of rugged talk and 'just do it' mindset.

I enjoy that sort of teaching style, though it obviously isn't for everyone. Also, it is more of an instructional video than an 'exercise-along-with' video.

Power Body: Kettlebell Bootcamp with Angie Miller
Starring Angie Miller

Power Body is an 'exercise-along-with' DVD. It focuses on giving you a good cardio workout more than purely building strength.

Angie goes through how to do several exercises at the beginning. Then the rest of the DVD is kettlebell routines that you do along with Angie, just like other exercise videos.

This DVD is presented in a more friendly manner than Pavel's. Angie throws in a lot of comments during the workouts to remind you to keep good form, and to tell you you're doing good.

Also, a note about the lighting: With Angie and her assistant wearing pink shirts, with a pink background, being smily and cheery… just be on guard for the pink cheer.

Absolute Beginners Fitness: 3 in 1 Kettlebell Amy Bento
Starring Amy Bento

Absolute Beginners Fitness is another 'exercise-along-with' DVD.

Amy uses a lot of basic kettlebell movements in her workouts (ex: swings, clean, presses, etc.). Also, there's a tutorial at the beginning of the DVD so you can learn the lifts.

Amy is heavy on the positive reinforcement. Which can help you go on, but I find it a little patronizing to hear so often.

Her form is great and she takes you through several different workout routines. Good if you want variety in your workouts.

Other Kettlebells DVD Reviews…

I can't possibly watch all the kettlebell DVDs on the market. But, you can get the benefit of other visitors knowledge - who have seen the videos…

Note: The number of start next to each review indicates how helpful the review is, not what that visitor thought of the DVD.

"About 2 weeks ago I read all the ab strengthening stuff on your site because I decided I wanted to be strong, instead of having a lot of belly fat. So I started eating healthier, running, exercising, you name it - everything your site said to do to help. Now I am noticing a real difference! Thank you for making this. :D xD"

[This calorie calculator is] the most useful tool on the web that I can find… Also, I compared the calories calculated by your calculator to the calories calculated by the treadmill at my gym, and they're within a couple calories of each other, so yours is as accurate as we're going to get. REALLY AWESOME TOOL. I love it and depend on it. Thank you sooooo much for making this available."
